October 24, 2013- AUSTIN, TX- Sunburst Digital Inc. announced that it will partner with Dual Language Training Institute (DLTI), a Texas-based educational consulting firm, to support DLTI’s customers with its dual-language digital curriculum designed to raise achievement outcomes of Spanish-speaking students.

English Spanish Success!™ (ESS!™), an interdisciplinary suite of innovative curriculum products (Sparkito!, Comprendo!, Claro!) published and distributed by Sunburst, is currently being used in 68 Austin Independent School District (AISD) elementary schools and over 100 districts in the U.S. ESS!™ supports language and academic vocabulary acquisition skills for Spanish-dominant speaking student populations.  ESS! is a ground-breaking partnership between Sunburst and Eduspark Inc. formed in 2011 to raise the academic achievement outcome of Spanish speaking students with standards-based digital content resources based on the proven Eduspark™ brain-based teaching and learning methodologies.

“We worked with Sunburst and their English Spanish Success!™ program because, after thorough evaluation, we determined that their digital content resources provided both rigor and engagement for the students enrolled in our AISD dual language program,” stated Ron Bolek, Administrative Support for the AISD Department of English Language Learners and former principal of Wooten Elementary. “ESS!™ is an excellent fit with our dual language instructional model adopted from our work with the Gomez & Gomez Dual Language Training Institute.”

Dr. Leo Gomez and Dr. Richard Gomez at DLTI developed the Gomez & Gomez Dual Language Enrichment Model in 1995. The program is the most widely implemented dual language model in the country with programs in over 120 school districts and 620 schools. DLTI is committed to the belief, evidenced by research, that academic achievement for the bilingual learner is largely based on the extent and quality of native language instruction.

“Leo and I are routinely asked for sources of high-quality English-Spanish materials by school districts. We believe that the English Spanish Success!™ resources uniquely fit our customer’s growing need for instructionally sound materials that are in sync with DLTI methodologies. We are very excited for this partnership as it will arm teachers with materials that can be efficiently implemented with our programs,” said Dr. Richard Gomez, Co-Founder of the Dual Language Training Institute.

Minnesota High Tech Association recognizes top tech companies in MN, winners to be named at Nov. 6 ceremony

Eagan, MN Oct. 22 2013 – The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) has named Eagan-based, GuideK12, as a finalist in the Education Technology category for the 2013 Tekne Awards. Winners will be named during the Nov. 6 ceremony held at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Tekne Awards honor Minnesota companies and individuals who have shown superior technology innovation and leadership.

The MHTA Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 to promote and support excellence in Science, math and technology in education.  Along with its technology based company members, MHTA looks to promote Technology in education, positioning MN as a top tech state to watch.  In addition to the prestigious Tekne Awards, MHTA also awards individual scholarships to undergraduate students in STEM disciplines.

As the leading provider of web-based, Geovisual Analytic tools for the education market, GuideK12 enables school districts to solve critical educational challenges by visualizing data on a map.   Having the ability to link student and household information, a district can save time and money while increasing transparency for everything from boundary planning, to program resource allocation to student performance analysis.  Displaying data in an interactive map allows administrators to run “what if” scenarios to drive decisions that are more efficient, and accurate.  This break-through technology is helping districts wade through and visualize data in a more meaningful way.  Schools are swimming with data, much of it siloed, making it difficult to integrate and take action

“GuideK12 is thrilled to be named as a finalist for this year’s Tekne Awards, earning recognition in our home state for the work we do to support districts nationwide is truly an honor,” states GuideK12 CEO and MN native, Chuck Amos. He continues, “GuideK12 translates data into actionable information so administrators can save time and money with more effective and efficient decisions.  In states with school choice, like MN, GuideK12 is a powerful tool for districts to analyze school choice patterns and trends across districts and determine the impact for the first time.  We are proud to be a MN based company that is empowering administrators to make data-driven decisions at the district level at the same time increasing transparency and trust within their communities.”

Presented by the MHTA, the Tekne Awards annually recognize Minnesota’s best and brightest technology users and developers in innovation, development, education, commercialization and management. A full list of finalists is available online at http://www.tekneawards.org.visit
