community sets next webinar for Wednesday

Carl Harvey will lead free webinar, ‘It’s Elementary! Great ebook resources for K-8’

VERO BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 18, 2013) – Noted industry thought leader Carl Harvey will explore what type of ebook resources are available for elementary and middle school students during a webinar Wednesday (Nov. 20), as part of the Rourke Educational Media-sponsored professional learning community on edWeb.net.

The free webinar, “It’s Elementary! Great ebook Resources for K-8,” will begin at 5 p.m. EST/2 p.m. PST. To register, visit this link.

“We will survey the environment for what kind of ebooks are out there for elementary students, talk about some of the features that are available – and those we wish were available – and examine instructional strategies for using ebooks with elementary students,” said Harvey, author and elementary school librarian, who is the community’s presenter.

The Exploring ebooks for K-12 Community provides teaching ideas and discussions about how to integrate ebooks into the classroom, and help educators work with their colleagues to accelerate their adoption. Members of the community receive invitations to free webinars and live chats; a CE certificate for attending/viewing webinars; and access to all of the recorded webinars, presentations, resources, and online discussions. The community was initially launched in 2010 on edWeb.net, a professional social network for the education community.  Earlier this year, Rourke Educational Media stepped up to sponsor the community. The community’s host is Dr. Tunisia Pullins, manager of professional development, Rourke Educational Media.
