Quick Key Mobile Releases Scanner App for Android Devices
Educators using Android devices can now realize benefits of digital scanning and grading

BOSTON (March 4, 2015) – Just one month after upgrading features and announcing a Pro app and a website dashboard, Quick Key Mobile releases an Android version of its teacher-acclaimed mobile scanning app. With a user-friendly interface, the Android app has all the same capabilities as the iOS version. Created by a veteran educator who was bound by restrictions of a paper-based classroom, Quick Key Mobile helps teachers improve student performance without teaching to the test.

Library Opens Applications for Teacher-in-Residence
Two K-12 Positions Available; Deadline April 7

The Library of Congress is seeking applications from current K-12 teachers or library/media specialists for two Teacher-in-Residence positions within its Educational Outreach division during the 2015-16 school year:

  • Science Teacher-in-Residence
  • Audio-Visual Teacher-in-Residence

The Educational Outreach division develops and delivers teaching materials and programs to make the Library’s unparalleled collections of primary sources visible, accessible and easy for K-12 teachers to integrate into the classroom.

The Library of Congress Teacher-in-Residence program is designed to give the selected educators a unique professional development experience – a year at the Library in Washington, D.C., working side by side with staff, contributing to K-12 education programs and materials, advising on outreach to teachers and helping to uncover and make visible primary sources in the Library’s collections.

The Teacher-in-Residence program has been in place since 2000, but this is the first year the Library has recruited teachers to work specifically with science or audio-visual collections.

In addition to assisting Library of Congress staff, the teachers-in-residence each will undertake a project using Library primary sources to benefit his or her home school, district or institution, to be implemented during the following academic year. This project could be a workshop on teaching with primary sources for fellow teachers, a district-wide social media campaign to promote teaching with the Library’s primary sources, the design of a new collaborative curriculum unit, or some other product or activity.

Alliance for Excellent Education selects GuideK12 for data visualization

GuideK12 creates an interactive map to showcase districts and schools participating in two major events

Eagan, MN March 4, 2015- The Alliance for Excellent Education wanted an interactive online map to highlight all schools and school districts that are participating in two important programs—Digital Learning Day and Future Ready Schools—when it turned to GuideK12 and its team of experts for its flagship solution.

The Alliance for Excellent Education is a Washington, DC–based national policy and advocacy organization dedicated to ensuring all students, particularly those traditionally underserved, graduate from high school ready for success in college, work, and citizenship.

The first initiative, Digital Learning Day, is on March 13.  It is a day to highlight great teaching practice and showcase innovative teachers, leaders, and instructional technology programs that are improving student outcomes. GuideK12, geo-visual analytics for education partnered with the Alliance to create an interactive map on the Digital Learning Day website, highlighting all the schools across the country that are involved with Digital Learning Day.  Users can filter by state and zoom into areas of the map to see all the different type of events the schools are hosting.

Future Ready Schools is helping districts quickly move to prepare students for success in college, careers and citizenships.  The tools, technology and coaching needed are part of the initiative along with a Future Ready Pledge that over 1,700 school district superintendents have already signed.   To support and display which districts have joined this movement, GuideK12 provided Future Ready Schools an interactive map to visualize the location of all the districts that have signed the pledge with the ability to click on each link to learn more.
