Follett’s Aspen Student Information System to Partner

With SRC Solutions for Online Registration Process

MCHENRY, Ill., June 14, 2016 –Follett has selected the Gateway Suite from SRC Solutions, Inc. as its preferred and exclusive Online Registration development partner for the Aspen Student Information System.

As part of the relationship, Aspen will be integrating Registration Gateway and Central Records Gateway to provide paperless end-to-end solutions for Online Registration and Electronic Cumulative Folder Management.The fully integrated solution will be known as “Gateway Suite for Aspen.”

According to George Gatsis, Senior Vice President of Technology Platforms for Follett School Solutions, Registration Gateway will allow Aspen school districts to migrate their paper-based registration processes to a simple yet dynamic online registration environment. “This will drastically improve data and document collection, and provide advanced reporting, notification and visibility across the district,” Gatsis said.

Central Records Gateway will enhance user experience, Gatsis continued, by providing a full Online Electronic Cumulative Folder solution accessible directly from the Aspen user Interface. It is a highly customizable solution that allows documents to follow the student through his or her entire education life cycle by incorporating user access, automated expiration and archiving, and finally parent and student document access provisioned by the district.

“Registration Gateway is the only provider to truly offer a system that can begin at the school of choice or lottery process, then take the parent experience to Online Registration and finally to Electronic Cumulative Folders,” Gatsis said.

He added SRC Solutions’ Registration Gateway rose to the top of the selection process due to several key differentiators. Singled out each of the last two years by District Administrationmagazine as a “Readers’ Choice Top Product,” Registration Gateway:

  • provides a proven end-to-end solution, incorporating physical document scanning as part of the registration process, instead of risky and insecure browse and upload features;
  • offers a custom reports tool that allows joint customers to create any report;
  • incorporates tools to combat address fraud and provide a means to automatically request updated residency documents;
  • is a true workflow engine, and not just a simple static forms package.

“SRC Solutions is excited to be working with Follett Aspen,” said Patrick Maher, CEO, SRC Solutions, Inc. “As school districts are held to stricter accountability standards, automated processes have taken hold where paper processes once reigned supreme. The Gateway Suite for Aspen takes on these challenges head on. We applaud Follett for doing their due diligence in selecting SRC Solutions – our product development, support and deployment stand second to none, and we look forward to proving this to our joint customers.Districts can typically see a 3-to-1 return on investment.”

Follett’s Aspen Student Information System hosts and manages student data, safely and securely stores data such as class schedules, student performance, health records, and athletic eligibility, and allows educators to closely monitor student progress, implement new curriculum, and conveniently communicate with parents.

Aspen currently serves more than two million students throughout 240 school districts in the U.S. and Canada.

SchoolMessenger Communicate from West’s Education group Earns iKeepSafe Privacy FERPA Badge

iKeepSafe’s badge is the first independent assessment program for FERPA

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif., June 14, 2016 — SchoolMessenger Communicate from West Corporation’s Education group has received the FERPA privacy badge in recognition of its alignment with iKeepSafe’s FERPA guidelines. SchoolMessenger Communicate (and its related InfoCenter app) are tools that help educational agencies and districts deliver school notifications and emergency alerts to parents by text message, voice call, email, and other means.

iKeepSafe’s FERPA badge is the first independent assessment program for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The program seeks to help educators and parents identify edtech services and tools that protect student data privacy.

“We take our commitment to school data privacy and security seriously. We were an early signatory of the education technology industry’s Student Privacy Pledge,” said Robert Iskander, general manager, West’s Education group. “Our iKeepSafe badge reinforces the fact that SchoolMessenger Communicate has become the trusted school-to-parent communications platform serving more than half of all schools.”

“iKeepSafe congratulates West’s Education group on taking this essential step in protecting students’ personal information,” said Marsali Hancock, president and CEO of iKeepSafe. “Each day, more school districts and parents are making privacy and safety a priority. It is important that they have a quick means of determining whether technology products are safe to use.”

Products participating in the iKeepSafe FERPA assessment must undergo annual re-evaluation to continue displaying the iKeepSafe FERPA badge. For the evaluation, an independent privacy expert reviewed SchoolMessenger Communicate, its privacy policy and practices, as well as its data security practices.

Cleveland Metropolitan School District Partners with SchoolMint to Serve a Record Number of Parents in School Choice Program

Online Enrollment and School Choice Platform Expected to Include City’s Charter Schools in Coming Years

SAN FRANCISCO, June 14, 2016 – Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) in Cleveland, Ohio partnered with SchoolMint, the leading provider of mobile and online enrollment and school choice systems for PreK-12 district, charter, and independent schools, to support the implementation of its school choice program. As a result of the use of this award-winning system, the district was able to serve 3,644 families in the 2015-16 school year and plans to expand its use of the system to include the city’s charter schools.

CMSD initially implemented its school choice program in 2014 in response to declining enrollments and in an effort to address equity and transparency for parents and their children. Following the initial program implementation, the district sought a technology system that would further simplify the choice, selection, matching, waitlist, and registration processes for parents and for the administrative team.

“We were in need of a technology-enabled, centralized data clearinghouse to support and manage informed school choices for our more than 30,000 families here in the district,” said Kevin Alin, CMSD’s Executive Director of School Choice and Enrollment. “SchoolMint represented a number of value propositions we were seeking and provided us with an integrated system to efficiently manage our school choice program.”

SchoolMint’s comprehensive system makes the end-to-end enrollment experience easier to manage for both school staff and parents. Its four primary solutions include Application and Lottery Management, Registration and Re-enrollment, Digital Forms and Documents, and School Choice and Unified Enrollment. These solutions provide a mobile and user-friendly option for parents as they navigate enrollment and school choice.

“With the right technology partner, we are able to offer parents greater transparency and enable fair and equal access to the schools of their choice. SchoolMint has helped us manage our high volume of application data and informed our system-level thinking,” Alin said. “It has improved parent communications which will be important as we expand the school choice program with our charter schools in the future.”

SchoolMint is currently used by more than 2,500 schools in 70 cities in 30 states and four countries. This includes use in districts such as CMSD, Camden City School District, and Indianapolis Public Schools, and leading charter school networks such as Achievement First, Uncommon Schools, and Aspire Public Schools.

“We understand the unique needs of districts and charter school networks alike,” said Jinal Jhaveri, SchoolMint CEO. “Districts such as CMSD should offer equity-based systems to parents so that all students have an equal opportunity for a quality education that serves their individual needs. Our system has helped thousands of families and staff members at school systems nationwide navigate the enrollment and school choice process with ease in an efficient, intuitive, and streamlined way.”

About SchoolMint
